Crunchy Data is the leading provider of trusted open-source PostgreSQL and enterprise PostgreSQL technology and is looking to hire a talented Operations Engineer to join Crunchy Data. The Operations Engineer will assist with day-to-day activities such as operating system and product administration, deployments, monitoring, patching, user management, and general software security implementation adherence. This is a mid-level role and requires occasional availability outside of standard office hours, due to the possibility of after-hours incidents or scheduled maintenance windows on occasional nights and weekends.

What You Will Do
  • Assists the Operations team with day-to-day activities, which may include: patching, configuring systems with best security practices, upgrading corporate software and tools and maintaining customer-facing applications, cluster provisioning, on-prem and cloud environment deployments, integrating applications, troubleshooting performance issues, employee onboarding and offboarding, debugging employee workstation issues, handling application account access requests, corporate technology needs, etc..
  • Maintains and updates Ansible / Terraform Infrastructure in git-hosted repositories for deployment of applications, operating systems, cloud objects, etc. using automation
  • Troubleshoots infrastructure and application alerts within defined SLA’s
  • Assists the Operations team with general maintenance (patching / upgrading / installing) during scheduled and ad-hoc windows
  • Configures, tunes, and deploys monitoring infrastructure and dashboards to determine health of company-owned and customer-facing applications
  • Installs and configures physical hardware at data centers and office locations as needed
  • Assists in the configuration and deployment of new applications for the entire organization or individual teams
  • Ensures accuracy of backup solutions and assists with regular exercises
  • Assists with compliance needs where applicable, including evidence gathering
  • Documents system configurations and security requirements using predefined standards and formatting
What You Will Bring
  • Located in Charleston, SC or surrounding area
  • Security+ or equivalent certification
  • Minimum of 3 years of Operations experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of Linux system administration experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of cloud and data center networking experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of collaborative git / gitlab / github experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of Ansible and Terraform experience
  • Minimum of 2 years using vSphere / vCenter
  • Experience installing data center computing hardware
  • Experience with logging and search software such as graylog / splunk / sumologic
  • Experience with gitlabCI or other CI tools such as Jenkins
  • Experience with LDAP / DNS / Kerberos
  • Experience with system and application monitoring tools
  • Experience with the following cloud and SaaS applications:
    • AWS
    • Azure
    • Google Workspaces
    • GCP
    • M365
    • Slack
  • Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent relevant hands-on experience
  • Ability to work well with others, especially remotely, in a fast-paced ever-changing environment
  • Ability to solve problems independently with limited information and oversight
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong grammar skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to participate in an On-call rotation
  • Occasional ability to travel
The following are considered a plus
  • Experience with multiple Operating systems, including Red Hat, Ubuntu, and Debian
  • Networking experience a plus
  • Python / Golang / Django / nodejs experience
  • CISSP or equivalent
  • Experience with SOC2, NIST SP 800-171 and SP 800-53
